Tour Journal & Pics

Dubbed the "Urban Cowgirl" - J.D. is a Long Island, New York girl who likes to rock out southern style. Her sound is where rock meets country. Often described as Roseanne Cash meets Melissa Etheridge, this style has won her the appeal of fans across the board. But J.D. Danner is not just another girl with a guitar… She is an artist with a mission to change the world through the power of music. In effort to do this J.D. has partnered with the American Cancer Society, Women In Distress and Forgotten Soldiers Outreach along with regularly touring to perform at military bases in the U.S. and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in support of our troops.

After college and a brief gig in the corporate world, J.D. decided pantyhose and deadlines was not the life for her. So she burned her pantyhose, picked up her guitar and has been performing professionally ever since.

1999 - J.D. released her debut original blues/rock CD titled, Stimulating Sacrifice to great reviews from the local press which won her a diverse fan base throughout South Florida.

2001 - After touring the southeast and New York City, J.D.’s next project would be a blues root gospel CD

Joyful Noise. She spent most of 2001 performing in churches and coffeehouses. During this tour she was privileged to share the stage with legendary rock idol, Dion at a Youth Praise and Worship music series.

2004 - J.D. began working with Nashville producer/songwriter Keith Ridenour on her second original album titled Maybe It’s Just Me. The CD takes the listener on a musical journey from the acoustic rock sound of "You Love Me Anyway" to the upbeat edgy rock sound of "Take The Time To Dance" to the gospel, blues/rock groove on "No Ordinary Hero".

2005 - In keeping her commitment to community, J.D. penned the song, "A Brand New Angel" as a tribute to a friend who had lost her battle with breast cancer. She presented the idea of a CD fundraising project the American Cancer Society and was invited to perform at their Relay For Life events throughout Florida. The CD single proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. J.D. continues to travel at her own expense and volunteer her time at the Relay For Life events each year.

The single CD, titled, "Shelter From The Shame" benefits Women In Distress, which is an awareness and fundraising project including a music video and several concerts to help stop violence against women and girls.

2007 - J.D. made her debut appearance at the legendary Blue Bird Café in Nashville, TN where she has now become a regular performer and house favorite.

J.D. was also honored with an "outstanding contribution" award at the army base Fort Hood in Kileen, TX for performing "Shelter From The Shame" and speaking at the base for "Stand Down Day". An event focusing on awareness and prevention of domestic violence in military families.

2008 - J.D. co-writes with producer Keith Ridenour for her latest release titled, "Hard Road To Heaven". This CD is a blend of southern rock and blues with a slide guitar lending a bit of ‘swamp" to the sound.

The songs from this CD have already caught the attention of independent filmmaker Jeffrey Poitier, nephew of legendary actor Sydney Poitier. Mr. Poitier has featured J.D. and her music in his latest film titled, "VOICES" which will premier in the Bahamas in April 2009.

In October 2008 her song titled, "Thanks To The Brave" was adopted by the television station at Fort Hood to be used in a variety of programs replacing Toby Keith’s "American Soldier". Both "Thanks To The Brave" and "Shelter From The Shame" are featured on the Stand Down Day training videos for the soldiers.

2009 - "Thanks To The Brave" is chosen by the NFL Indianapolis Colts cheerleaders for their April 2009 Armed Forces Entertainment tour to perform for our troops in the Mediterranean. J.D. has been invited to perform at a halftime show for the Indianapolis Colts in the 2009 season. Date TBA.

J.D. is will be launching her radio talk show, Sound Off! on W4CY.com on May 26, 2009.
